Fallout 76 Disables Loot-Dropping Holiday Event After Loot Just Didn't Drop All That Much
After players couldn’t receive their proper rewards, the Holiday Scorched event in Fallout 76 was revoked and removed from the game for the year.
According to the Twitter blog announcing these changes, Fallout 76 players claimed they weren’t receiving enough gifts, and in response, the dev team turned up the spawn rate of Festive Scorched for better chances at Legendary loot. However, this messed up the balance of the game at wide, and so the team scaled it back down to normal. Unfortunately, the gift drop rate still couldn’t be fixed, meaning everyone was back at square one.
As of noon today, the event is deactivated altogether.
However, other components of the holiday event will remain in place until the usual date of January 2. For instance, Santatron is still available, giving a free opportunity to collect gifts, and players can still buy gift wrap.
Players can also get a stack of Gift Wrap once per day from the Atomic Shop as of noon today, too, with 20 low-quality, 15 medium-quality, and 10 high-quality gift wraps, letting any player give the gift of guns and whatever it is y’all Wastelanders give.
At least there’s something to look forward to in the new year, as players will be able to play as Ghouls, a development we got hands-on with and even spoke to FO76’s Production Director about.
