Ewan McGregor has shared his reaction to seeing Darth Vader for the first time on the set of Obi-Wan Kenobi. The actor is reprising his role of the Jedi-in-hiding for the first time since the release of Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith in 2005 for the 6-episode limited series on Disney+. Hayden Christensen will also be reprising his roles as Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader for the series, which brings a dynamic duo back together that viewers have been highly anticipating for a long time.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which takes place 10 years afterRevenge of the Sith, is set to follow Obi-Wan as he continues to watch over Luke Skywalker from a distance. Along the way, he'll have to deal with Vader's sinister and ruthless Inquisitors, the Force-sensitive beings who are sent out to hunt down and kill any surviving Jedi from Order 66. Concept art for the series has already revealed that Obi-Wan and Vader will have a rematch of their Mustafar duel, though Vader's presence will be known in the series beyond just the physical realm. McGregor has shared that Obi-Wan will begin his story "broken, and faithless, and beaten," no doubt as a result of his failure to keep Anakin from falling to the darkness becoming Vader. The infamous villain is thus destined to play a large role in this series and Obi-Wan's journey.
