Mark Hamill reacts to Obi-Wan Kenobi's young Luke Skywalker casting. Ever since Hamill originated the role of the iconic Jedi in the original 1977 Star Wars film, his entire reputation has been based around Luke Skywalker. He reprised the role for the remainder of the original trilogy until 1983 and then returned to Star Wars decades later in Disney's sequel trilogy, featured most prominently in Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi in 2017. Hamill returned to the role again just a few years later for a digitally de-aged cameo during The Mandalorian's season 2 finale.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is now the next Star Wars Disney+ series on the docket. Since the series is set 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, Luke won't be portrayed by Hamill, nor will his likeness be used. Instead,Obi-Wan has cast an age-appropriate actor to portray Luke, about 10-years-old in the series. Following a brief glimpse at him in theObi-Wan trailer, it was confirmed that Grant Feely is the one playing young Luke following a recasting.
