delivers a significant chunk of its content through Warbonds, and while two came alongside the game's launch, a new Warbond is being added to the game just over a month later. Warbonds work much like the battle passes that have become common in live-service games, but they allow players a decent amount of agency in determining the order in which each Warbond's items are unlocked. This new Warbond, called Cutting Edge, is bringing not only new cosmetic items, but new weapons and armor as well.
Upon the release of, there were two Warbonds available – Helldivers Mobilize and Steeled Veterans. The latter is essentially a premium track for the battle pass system, requiring players to purchase it with their bought or freely found Super Credits. Each Warbond contains a variety of weapons, armor, grenades, capes, emotes, Boosters, and more. Medals are spent on unlocking said items, in turn opening up further tiers of the Warbond. Cutting Edge is releasing March 14, and appears to be the first monthly premium Warbond coming to, and is focused on giving players the latest and greatest in Super Earth technology.
Some of the primary attractions in the Cutting Edge Warbond, revealed in a post, are three new armor sets, which include matching helmets. According to the in-game lore, these are a series of prototype suits, created by Super Earth Research & Development, and are now ready for field-testing. The EX-03 Prototype 3, EX-16 Prototype 16, and EX-00 Prototype X all lean heavily into 's futuristic setting, particularly in their helmets eschewing traditional visors for what appear to be more complex optical sensors.
At the time of writing, it's unknown what special properties each set of armor will have. They may incorporate existing abilities, such as increased Stim carrying capacity or greater resistance to explosions, or introduce entirely new ones.
