Loyal Super Earth patriots should mark their calendars for April 11, as a new Premium Warbond is set to be deployed in Helldivers 2 on that date. Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment’s sci-fi co-op shooter has been a breakout hit since dropping into battle in February, with a growing legion of Helldivers 2 players enlisting to challenge Cyborgs and insectoid Terminids across the universe in the name of the Super Earth democracy. Helldivers 2 quickly became one of the most-played titles on Steam less than a day after its launch, and its developers are continuing to support the game with several updates.
Part of these updates include new additions to Helldivers 2’s permanent Battle Pass, which allows players to purchase new weapons and gear by trading in Medals and other currency gained during regular gameplay. This stands apart from other live-service games like Halo Infinite, which have their players advance their Battle Pass through an XP progression system. Helldivers 2’s Warbond system has been seen as both a blessing and a curse among fans, as while it eliminates the need for time-specific seasonal events, it also requires a hefty grind and could discourage solo play.
Helldivers 2 fans can look forward to a new Premium Warbond on April 11. This battle pass extension is code-named “Democratic Detonation” and will grant players access to a host of new Helldivers 2 weapons, armor, and cosmetic items. The new primary weapons include the BR-14 Adjudicator Rifle, which fires armor-piercing rounds and works best against small groups of enemies. There’s also the R-36 Eruptor Rifle, a bolt-action gun that fires jet-assisted shells that explode shrapnel in all directions – including the player’s if they aren’t careful. Lastly, the CB-9 Exploding Crossbow will unleash powerful exploding bolts that dish out maximum damage upon impact.
