Back at EVE Fanfest, CCP Games officially unveiled its upcoming FPS module set in the EVE Universe,EVE Online: Vanguard. Now we know when players will get their hands on the FPS this year.
CCP Games back in September promised players they would have a chance to check out the FPS before the end of the year, looking at December for the ideal month to deploy its upcoming FPS mode. Thankfully, there isn't long to wait, as Vanguard will host its first alpha test, called First Strike.
This event runs from 4am PT/7am ET on December 7th and concludes at the same time on December 11th. It's a short test, but one that will have not only an impact on the data CCP games has on building an FPS and supporting on into the future, but also how it affects the EVE universe. Even within this first test, the fabric of New Eden will be affected, as players can go boots on the ground to sow corruption in EVE Online's new Pirate Insurgency layer added with last week's Havoc expansion.
The test is open to all Omega subscribers, meaning there isn't any additional purchase other than an EVE subscription (which can actually be paid for if you have enough ISK in the MMO), and Vanguard will be launched directly from the EVE Online launcher proper. You can learn more and sign up for Omega on the EVE Vanguardwebsite.
