Euphoria Season 3 in ‘Danger,’ as Zendaya and Jacob Elordi Book 2025 Roles
A new report from Jeff Sneider on the status of casts doubt on whether or not the show will ever come out with a new season, stating that the status of the show is in danger.
In a series of posts on X (his account is private as of the time of this writing), Sneider initially said that Euphoria Season 3 was “dead” at HBO, and that the planned production for 2025 was no longer happening, before he noted that insiders close to HBO told him different, and noted that production is still set to occur in 2025.
In follow-up posts, Sneider said that he heard from multiple sources that the show was “in danger,” and pointed to Zendaya’s obligations to Spider-Man 4 and her newly acquired role in Christopher Nolan’s next film, as well as Jacob Elordi going into production on Wuthering Heights in Q1 2025, as signs that Euphoria’s status is officially up in the air.
Sneider also said that, judging from what he’s heard, he believes that the scripts for Season 3 aren’t ready yet, and that the cast for the show may have simply moved onto other projects in the meantime. No official word from HBO or anyone involved in Euphoria has been made available as of yet.
Initially, Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and the rest of the cast of Euphoria were set to begin filming on Season 3 this past spring, but HBO announced earlier this year that it had postponed production, with stars told to pursue other opportunities while creator Sam Levinson worked on the third season.
Shortly after the postponement, reports began to surface that people at HBO were unsure if a third season would ever happen due to the different visions that the creative team for the show had.
According to reports from Variety, early drafts of Season 3 stories were seen as unsatisfying to HBO, with Levinson’s original vision for the new series featuring a five-year time jump.
