Director Chad Stahelski recently provided an update on the highly anticipated Rainbow Six movie, starring Michael B. Jordan. In an exclusive interview with The Direct, Stahelski emphasized that the team is “taking [their] time” to ensure the film is done correctly. He explained, “We just want to get it right,” adding that there has been “a lot of good development work” and “a lot of good ideas being flushed around.”
The Rainbow Six film, based on Tom Clancy’s novel and the popular video game series, will be a sequel to Without Remorse, which starred Jordan as U.S. Navy SEAL John Kelly. Stahelski noted that the development process is taking longer due to the complexities of adapting such a major franchise.
He stated, “Michael B. Jordan is one of my favorite cast members that I’ve had to develop or work with. He’s a fantastic guy, tons of energy. I think he’s got so much potential, not just in the action genre… Rainbow Six. It’s a big property. It comes from a big IP. So it’s, you know, the development to do it right.”
In August 2023, Stahelski revealed that the writer and actor strikes delayed the project (via ComicBook.com). He emphasized the need for a careful approach to adapting the Rainbow Six universe.
Stahelski’s experience, including co-directing John Wick and its sequels, makes him a strong fit for the project. Meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan, known for his role as Erik Killmonger in Black Panther, has several other projects in development, such as Creed IV and I Am Legend 2. Fans should expect the film to take time but can look forward to a well-crafted adaptation.
