Last year, NetEase revealed a free to play open-world urban fantasy RPG under the codename Project Mugen. Now, the company is pulling back the curtain a little bit on the game, officially titled Ananta.
The team officially opened the English language website and released a new trailer. Set in a place called Nova City, a coastal hub where there are lots of possibilities and some chaos. Or rather, Chaos.
“This city is electric—whether you're street surfing in Paradox Plaza or pulling marathon gaming sessions at Glimmergold, there's never a dull moment. And with humans and Chaos living side by side, you never know what crazy twists your adventure might take!”
Chaos is the threat that endangers humanity and you you become an elite agent. The Chaos is going to be part of your adventure, although the team promises there’s more too. You get to team up with others and part of your adventure seems to be trying to help save the world. And what a world it seems to be. So far, in trailers we’ve seen hanging at the club, sneaking photos, pets, toilets racing on a highway, beachy adventures and more. Yet, we do get hints and peeks at the danger that is lurking in what NetEase is calling its “rule-breaking urban open world”.
Pre-registration signups are currently open for Ananta. Aside from these stylized and fanciful trailers, there's not much to go on just yet or any window. Whether or not this looks like something you want to jump into just might depend on how much you love the style or not (and maybe monetization info). The official site doesn't have that much yet, but now that the title has been officially revealed, we can probably expect more info to start dropping pretty soon.
