Despite playing the game for over 1,000 hours, anElden Ring player was quite surprised when they encountered a boss for the first time in the game. While one might think it was simply an oversight, it seems like they are not the only player in the Elden Ring community who have missed it.
Elden Ring is a treasure trove of secrets, filled with a plethora of hidden bosses, weapons, and other items. The game's open-ended nature, which completely discards traditional objective markers, pushes the players to explore The Lands Between on their own. Considering the scale of the game's world, it is quite easy to miss a lot of things, especially due to the fact that sometimes players have to perform specific actions to unlock these secret areas in Elden Ring. In one such incident, a player missed a boss in one of the most crucial areas of the game.
In a post on the Elden Ring subreddit, user aweguykkm highlights how they ended up encountering a boss in Altus Plateau for the first time despite playing the game since launch. The boss in question is one of the Fallingstar Beasts, which is located beneath the two Sentinels in the Altus Plateau. Precisely, players will need to look for a large crater located south of the southern Capital Outskirts gate.
What makes the encounter quite easy to miss is that from afar, players will only be able to see a statue, which is in fact a Starcaller. However, upon getting close, the Fallingstar Beast will spawn. While the boss is quite challenging, it is actually one of the easier ones in the vicinity, considering the area is surrounded by Tree Sentinels, Rune Bears, Gargoyles, and whatnot.
Fans are divided on the post, with many perplexed at the fact that it is possible to miss a boss right in an open area after so many hours in the game. However, what's equally surprising is that quite a lot of players came to know about the boss from the post itself. In fact, some players also mentioned that they had a similar playtime but never encountered it.
