The start of Season 4 in EA Sports WRC brings with it beta support for VR headsets on PC, a free update available across Steam, Epic and EA App versions of the game. The VR Beta and update 1.8.0 are available from 11AM BST today.
Sadly there are no plans to add VR support for the game on consoles – this specifically excludes PSVR 2.
The VR beta is being baked into the game with EA Sports WRC update 1.8.0 – read the full patch notes here. While Codemasters has pretty extensive history of supporting VR in their games on PC – including with Dirt Rally and Dirt Rally 2 – this will be the first time that they’re developing it in-house and without the help of external partners. Codemasters recommend that you start with very low settings and then gradually ramp them up as you’re confident of achieving a consistent 90 FPS. That will go a long way to ensuring a comfortable gaming experience, but goes hand in hand with a bunch of VR-specific settings to turn on or off parts of the car, driver, fix the horizon, add vignettes, reposition yourself and more.
