Like many modern RPGs, has several ways players can farm more of the game's currency, in this case, gold. It can be easy to forget among the game's many other features, like choice-based events, sword-slashing plus magic-slinging gameplay, and bonding with your companions. However, you'll quickly realize how important gold is when you have enough to spend on important necessities.
While you can get armor sets for free, those are only cosmetic. If you want to afford extra weapons and armor that can bolster Rook's stats and make them more capable in combat, you'll need extra gold to bolster your loadout and other parts of your inventory. Luckily, farming gold isn't hard to do at all.
To start farming gold in as early as you can, start smashing every destructible crate, barrel, or vase you find and pilfer what's inside. There will be many breakable stacks of objects throughout the game's levels, usually containing at least a sliver of gold along with occasional valuables. You'll even find pieces of gold lying on the ground as small sparkling objects.
In the storage room in Dock Town, there are shelves of crates, vases, and barrels you can farm infinitely. Fast travel back to the same area and all of them will have respawned to destroy again.
The key is to look out for what could be any areas that would be or have previously been occupied, as well as public places of trade like markets or storage rooms. Even in castle ruins, or wrecked towns, you'll find at least one stack of crates that contain enough gold to make for a tidy sum over time. You might even save enough to buy an extra gift for your companions. There are many containers in 's Dock Town to destroy for lots of extra loot.
