The chickens and ducks in are much more loyal than fans had realized. There are a lot of tasks to keep track of in the game, so it can be easy to get side-tracked and neglect certain gameplay elements. Luckily, many of the daily activities on the farm continue even in the farmers absence.
One player found out just how reliable their chickens are, in particular, when they returned from pressing tasks elsewhere. The player, who goes by Mysterious_North6806 on Reddit, says they forgot to collect eggs from their barn when they got distracted for a few in-game days with farm renovations and exploring Ginger Island for the first time. Returning to the barn, they found thatthe chickens and other barn animals had gone right on providing goods to sell even while they were gone.
The image shared on Reddit shows an entire barn full of neatly placed eggs, feathers, and other animal by-products. Stardew Valley players have recently discovered that since the 1.6 update, it's possible to steal items from characters around the valley. I wasn't aware of this until I saw a post on Reddit, and I was surprised that I didn't notice this before.
