Disney adds Blizzard and Ubisoft vets to games leadership team

Blizzard veteran Ray Gresko has been appointed as SVP of production and development. He was previously chief development officer at the World of Warcraft giant and before that held roles at LucasArts, Nihilistic Software and Stormfront Studios. In his new position, Gresko will be working closely with Epic Games on its recently-announced new metaverse/virtual world thing.
Meanwhile, Bjorn Tornqvist was hired as VP of games tech in November. Before joining Disney, he spent 18 years working at Ubisoft Massive, before spending another two-and-a-half at the French firm's Stockholm studio.
Jay Ong is moving from heading up Marvel's games initiative to oversee games licensing for all of Disney's IP. He has worked at Marvel for a decade having previously worked at Blizzard, EA and Microsoft. Finally, Sean Shoptaw has been promoted to EVP of Disney games from SVP of games and interactive experiences.
“Under the leadership of Sean and Jay, Disney’s games business is perfectly positioned to deliver world-class storytelling in this medium,” Disney Consumer Products boss Tasia Filippatos said.
“We’re grateful to every member of the Disney Games team who has contributed to our success, and who will help shape the future of this industry through genre-defining entertainment.”
