Bandai Namco, along with developer Media.Vision, have unveiled the latest new game in the Digimon Story franchise. Dubbed Digimon Story: Time Stranger, the game is slated for release in 2025, and will be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Check out the trailer below.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger has been described as an RPG with elements of monster-taming that fans of the Digimon franchise will recognise. The game will explore the bonds between humans and Digimon, and along the way, it hopes to tell an epic story about the world collapsing.
The main story in Time Stranger will have players taking part in adventures between the parallel human world and the Digital World where Digimon reside, called Illiad. Both worlds will have their own special quests to promote player exploration as well.
The combat system in Digimon Story: Time Stranger will be a turn-based one, and players will get to make use of their different kinds of Digimon, each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses, to take on an ever-escalating series of challenging enemies.
The last major title in the Digimon Story franchise was Cyber Sleuth, which came out all the way back in 2018. The game was relatively successful, with Bandai Namco announcing that it had sold more than 1.5 million copies by 2020. Since then, while the Digimon Story series has been dormant, we did get to see other Digimon titles, with the most recent title being 2023’s Digimon World: Next Order.
