Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Of Madness released a brand new trailer today ahead of the Super Bowl's kick off, and in it, a «mysterious voice» teased telling Strange «the truth.»
Check out the moment here at 1:20.
The voice is literally credited as «mysterious» in the official subtitles on the video but it certainly sounds like the dulcet tones of Patrick Stewart who famously played Professor X for Fox's X-Men franchise. There is a brief over-the-shoulder shot where you can make out the back of a bald head which seems like even more evidence.
This would actually be the second major X-Men crossover in the MCU, though the first--Evan Peters reprising his role as Pietro for WandaVision--turned out to be a gag rather than an official multiversal event. It seems like this moment, if it is indeed Professor X, is directly related to the multiverse, however, given that's the central conflict of the movie. However, whatever «the truth» might be here remains a mystery.
It's also impossible to tell if this particular Professor X is the version we've seen in the X-Men movies. It's certainly possible, especially if the cameo will follow the same basic premise as the arrival of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's respective Peter Parkers into the MCU in No Way Home. Both Peters retained the memories of their respective universes and stories despite hopping over to the MCU. However, it's equally possible that this version of Professor X will be from an alternate reality where the Fox X-Men movies don't exist or happened differently, despite Patrick Stewart reprising the role. It's just too early to make the call.
And if Professor X is back, in whatever capacity, what other mutants can we expect to see in the MCU from here on out?
