The first story expansion for Dead Island 2 is coming out in just a few weeks, with Dambuster Studio and publisher Plaion confirming that Haus will release on 2nd November.
Haus will whisk players off to Malibu as a new location surrounding LA to investigate a mysterious cult in a “surreal, psycho-horror dreamscape”. It sounds pretty wild and trippy, and it’s all been brought about by a secret billionaire’s techno-death cult. “Haus is a paragon of a new future, as prophesied by their enigmatic leader Konstantin,” the blurb tells us, promising to push the boundaries of morality as you delve into a labyrinthine mess of biomes with unusual architecture.
Make of all that what you will, but this DLC will be an all-new story in the thoroughly daft Dead Island universe. There will be new weapons and eight new skill cards to earn, including:
Dambuster is also working on a second Dead Island 2 story expansion that is called SOLA Festival, expected to come out in second quarter of 2024.
After close to a decade of stop-start development, Dead Island 2 finally released back in April across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC. And you know what? It’s a pretty good game! No, it’s not revolutionising the zombie shooter, and it came with certain limits to the open world, but it’s some good, silly zombie smashing fun. In good news for Plaion, the game got off to a solid start at the tills, selling more than one million copies in the first few days after launch.
