CD Projekt Red has announced plans to host a new Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire live stream.
Viewable on YouTube and Twitch this Thursday, September 14 at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm GMT / 5pm CEST, the presentation will focus on the upcoming release of the game’s only planned expansion, Phantom Liberty.
“We’ll talk about new radios, learn more about Reed from Idris Elba himself, discuss gameplay & new abilities… and throw in a surprise or two,” CD Projekt teased.
Set for release on September 26, the $30 / £25 expansion promises to entirely overhaul the way Cyberpunk 2077 is played, according to the studio.
In an interview in June, creative director Pawel Sasko and quest designer Despoina Anetaki told VGC that “all the core main systems” of the game have been “redone or updated in a major way”.
Gameplay designer Yulia Pryimak showcased some of these new features, including vehicle combat, during Gamescom Opening Night Live last month.
It was also announced that some of the new features introduced in Phantom Liberty will be added to the base game as part of Update 2.0, which will be available for current-gen consoles and PC.
CD Projekt said last month that its decision to only release a single expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 was a technological one due to the company’s switch to Unreal Engine development.
Alongside the news that it was working on the next mainline Witcher game, the company announced in March 2022 that it had entered into a 15-year partnership with Epic that would see the companies collaborate on Unreal Engine projects including engine and game development.
CD Projekt’s proprietary REDengine powered the studio’s previous Witcher games and Cyberpunk 2077.
