Another one bites the dust. Another live service game is about to meet its maker, and this week it’s the Payday: Crime War shutdown looming.
It seems like only yesterday that Droid Gamers was reporting on its release, but clearly the game did not meet expectations and is set for a swift and merciless canning.
The surprising announcement came via the official Discord that an end of service was coming fast. Very fast in fact, Payday: Crime War goes offline on the 10th of October, less than a week from now.
The dev team seems eager to at least send the game out on a high note, with all players credited 100,000 Gold to use however they please, so you can at least have a blowout shopping spree before spending your last days on the game.
The announcement also mentioned that Crime Passes and Safes would be available at discounted gold prices. There doesn’t appear to be any mention of refunding any premium currency or in-app purchases, so if you’ve spent out recently don’t hold your breath on any returns.
Payday: Crime War released as a mobile counterpart to the popular heist series, where players set out to commit a robbery by whatever means they judge to be the best ones.
Players have to work as a team in order to acquire the valuables and escape both security and law enforcement, while taking on the roles of a gang of mask-wearing criminals, each of them gifted with a particular set of skills.
If you want to try out Payday: Crime War before it disappeared forever, its Google Play listing was still up at the time of writing, so you can try it there.
Want something you can play now you’re at a loose end after the Payday: Crime War shutdown? Well, check out our best new Android games this week and see if anything there speaks to
