Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 is out later today for all platforms, but it received some backlash during advanced access for its UI, map generation, etc. Before launching worldwide, Firaxis released patch 1.0.1 for PC, the first of several upcoming patches based on feedback.
Some of the more notable bug fixes include Epic and Marathon Age games being shorter than expected and numerous problems with naval combat. If you found your naval units using the wrong Combat Strength Values or not consistently moving to attacked tiles after disposing of enemies, these should be fixed.
Unfortunately, cross-platform play between PC and consoles has been temporarily switched off since Firaxis wants to “expedite” updates for the former. While this won’t affect PC-only and console-only matchmaking, it is another wrinkle for the 4X strategy title’s troubled launch.
Check out the full patch notes below. Civilization 7 will be available today for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Head here for more details on its post-launch roadmap.

A note about cross-play multiplayer: To expedite updates to the PC experience, we will sometimes deploy patches to PC at a different cadence than we do on consoles – including today’s Patch 1.0.1. As a result, cross-play between PC players and console players is temporarily disabled. This will have no impact on console players attempting cross-platform play with other console players, nor on PC-to-PC multiplayer.
