Searchlight Pictures has announced the digital, 4K, and Blu-ray release dates for its latest biographical drama about the life of legendary musician Bob Dylan. The film is currently nominated for eight Oscar Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress.
“New York, 1961. Against the backdrop of a vibrant music scene and tumultuous cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music,” reads the official synopsis. “He forges intimate relationships with music icons of Greenwich Village on his meteoric rise, culminating in a groundbreaking and controversial performance that reverberates worldwide.”
A Complete Unknown will be available to rent or own on digital platforms starting on February 25. It will be followed by its 4K UHD Blu-ray and HD Blu-ray releases on April 1. Since making its debut, the film has been garnering positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. The film currently holds a Certified Fresh rating of 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 193 reviews.
A Complete Unknown was directed by James Mangold from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jay Cocks based on author Elijah Wald’s book titled Dylan Goes Electric. The cast includes Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan, Edward Norton as Peter Seeger, Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, Nick Offerman as Alan Lomax, and P.J. Byrne as Harold Leventhal. Producers are Fred Berger, Mangold, Alex Heineman, Bob Bookman, Peter Jaysen, Alan Gasmer, Jeff Rosen, and Chalamet. It is executive produced by Dylan along with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Andrew Rona.
