Channing Tatum says that he based his look in The Lost City on co-star Brad Pitt in the Oscar-winning film Legends of the Fall. So far, the recent release of The Lost City has been met with plenty of acclaim, both critically and from audiences. The film brings together some pretty bankable Hollywood stars in addition to Tatum and Pitt. Sandra Bullock takes on the film’s lead role and Daniel Radcliffe enjoys his first big-budgeted turn as a villain.
But in a time when the romantic comedy has made a small yet noticeable comeback, it’s still considered unusual to see a large-scale entry in the genre. The days of the adventure/rom-com hybrid seemed to have ended long ago, yet for The Lost City, none of that appears to matter. The film follows romance novelist Loretta Sage, whose book tour takes a turn for the worse after she’s kidnapped by billionaire Abigail Fairfax (Radcliffe). Fairfax is in search of a fabled treasure known as the Crown of Fire and believes that Sage’s apparent expertise in translating a specific type of cuneiform script can lead him to it. However, Fairfax hadn’t banked on Alan, aka Dash (Tatum), the model who appears on the covers of Sage’s books. With the help of Jack Trainer (Pitt), the two mount a rescue mission.

Tatum is certainly no stranger to comedy and his role as Dash involves plenty of laughs. Taking cues from the pulp romance novels typically found in discount bins and grocery stores, Dash’s appearance is downright hilarious.
