Sandra Bullock's latest romantic comedy movie The Lost City perfectly flips a scene she had with Ryan Reynolds in a previous rom-com. The Lost City's cast stars Bullock and her new screen partner Channing Tatum as the duo embarks on an unexpected journey to find treasure and love. The Lost City plays with plenty of tropes of the genre that Sandra Bullock is very familiar with after starring in several rom-com hits during the 1990s and 2000s. She's just about done it all, which allowed her latest film to cleverly play off a scene she once shared with her former co-star.
Back in 2009, Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds starred together in The Proposal. The movie features a similar opposites-attract trope, broadly speaking, as The Lost City, as the two main characters unexpectantly fall in love over the course of the movie. While The Proposal is set primarily in Alaska and The Lost City's ending takes place on a mysterious island, the different setting and reason for Sandra Bullock's visit don't prevent some similarities from emerging. In fact, the new movie does a perfect job of flipping a memorable scene between Bullock and Reynolds.

After Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt's characters save Sandra Bullock in The Lost City, Tatum and Bullock are left to try and survive in the jungle environment by themselves. As they attempt to flee from the bad guys, Bullock's character Loretta Sage enters a river so they can't be tracked. She stumbles upon entering the river, resulting in Tatum's Alan rushing into the river to save her. This is when Loretta asks him what he's doing, saying that she doesn't need to be saved because she can swim. It is through this moment that The Lost City flips
