With the uncertainty of life over the past two years, you may have held off on upgrading your phone or switching carriers. If you like to get the latest technology, you know that top-of-the-line and even mainstream phones aren’t inexpensive. There’s a fair chance that your phone cost more than your home computer. (For what it’s worth, it may be more powerful.) And when you upgrade your phone, it's worth contemplating whether you should switch your mobile carrier at the same time. There is a lot to consider.
In this month’s PCMag Readers’ Choice Award survey, we help you make the right choice—by asking our readers to rate their satisfaction with the mobile platform they use (which for nearly every respondent is either Apple’s iOS or Google’s Android), the phone in their hand, and the carrier for that phone. Their responses make it clear that you have a lot of very good choices, and they may not always be the brands with which you’re most familiar. No offense to movie star and owner of Mint Mobile Ryan Reynolds, but apparently, it isn't his hard-as-a-fist cheekbones that earn Mint its first PCMag Readers’ Choice Award. Rather, it's his company’s stellar customer satisfaction experience. Sure, one respondent did mention Reynolds in her comments: “Great price, great support (the few times I've needed it), easy online interface, and a holiday greeting from Ryan Reynolds. What's not to like?” But most forgot to mention the actor and instead made statements like: “Easy phone changeover. Great cost value. Fast data streaming. Best service I've ever been on.”
