Netflix will be distributing the next film by The Revenant director Alejandro G. Iñárritu, titled Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths. Iñárritu is known in part for the impeccable cinematography that accompanies his films as well as the magnetic performances that he is able to draw out from actors. The Mexico City-born director has won several Oscars throughout his career, including Best Director for both Birdman and The Revenant.
Netflix announced that it will distribute Bardo, which follows a Mexican journalist and documentary filmmaker who returns to Mexico during an existential crisis to recount his past in order to make sense of his present. The film is written by Iñárritu as well as his writing partner onBirdman, Nicolás Giacobone, and stars Daniel Giménez Cacho and Griselda Siciliani. The film was shot on 65mm film by renowned cinematographer Darius Khondji, known for such past work as Se7en and Amour.
