Mark Ruffalo reacts to The Adam Project becoming one of the biggest original movies to ever debut on Netflix. Initially announced as Our Name Is Adam with Tom Cruise attached to play its lead, The Adam Project was acquired by Paramount Pictures way back in 2012. In 2020, the project was revived by Netflix with Free Guy director Shawn Levy and a script from Jonathan Tropper, T.S. Nowlin, Jennifer Flackett, and Mark Levin. It stars Ryan Reynolds, Walker Scobell, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana, Catherine Keener, and Mark Ruffalo.
The Adam Project follows fighter pilot Adam Reed (Reynolds), who travels back in time to search for his wife (Saldana). After crash landing in the year 2022, Adam teams up with his younger self (Scobell) and, at some point in time, his scientist father (Ruffalo) to avert a dystopian future and prevent time travel from ever being invented. The science-fiction extravaganza has been streamed for over 233 million hours in its first 28 days, making it Netflix’s fourth most-viewed English-language movie of all time. Naturally, those involved with the film have been blown away by the film’s success since it premiered on March 11.
