Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone players have started receiving some useful freebies on January 19. The digital gifts are meant to serve as an apology for the serious issues introduced with the Call of Duty Season 1 Reloaded update earlier this week.
While even the best live service games aren't immune to missteps in the form of buggy patches, labeling the latest update for Activision's hit shooter as problematic would be an understatement. Namely, many fans found themselves entirely unable to play the game following the Season 1 Reloaded patch, not least because of a bizarre infinite looping glitch that broke the game's main menu. The update also busted the Call of Duty: Warzone Perk Package slots, on top of introducing a number of other notable issues.
The developers have largely managed to eliminate those problems over the next several days. Following up on their bug hunt, the official Call of Duty Twitter account has now revealed that all Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone players will be compensated for the inconvenience with tokens that double their Player XP, Weapon XP, and Battle Pass XP progress for one hour. The 1-hour tokens are consumables, allowing fans to use them at their discretion. This trio of gifts will be added to each player's account within 48 hours of their next Call of Duty HQ login.
Additionally, the latest Double XP event for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone has been extended by three days—until Wednesday, January 24—in order to make up for the time that the players lost due to the buggy Season 1 Reloaded update. Activision hasn't specified the exact end time of the event, although historical precedent suggests that it is likely to wrap up around 1pm ET.
The 2XP tokens that Call of Duty is currently giving out won't stack with the effects of the ongoing Double XP event, so players ought to save them for later use.
