Warning: Contains spoilers for Angel #6
Spike, the fan-favorite blonde vampire from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has gone through a lot of pain and suffering to redeem himself from a past of murder and violence, but his appearance in the Angel comic series by Boom! Studios proves that his journey for redemption is not over yet. Spike's most prized possession, the soul he regained to get back his humanity, is being stolen from him, while his evil version from another universe is out to get his head.

Studios' reboot of the Buffyverse, which began with a new Angel comic in January 2022, followed by The Vampire Slayer in April, Spike is still a Champion (a vampire who got his soul back and fights the forces of evil), living in Los Angeles and helping his friend/rival Angel in solving supernatural crimes and mysteries.

Wanting to help his friends despite their lack of trust in him, Spike enlists the help of his former lover Drusilla to seek out a shady doctor who deals with the supernatural, looking for a cure for Wesley, who has been turned into a zombie. The price for the cure is a small fragment of Spike's soul, but unknown to him the doctor is siphoning off the entirety of it. In Angel #6, by Christopher Cantwell, Daniel Bayliss, and Patricio Delpeche, Spike
