Below Deck Sailing Yacht saw another new arrival to the Parsifal III this season with stew Scarlett Bentley. While only halfway through, season 3 of the Below Deck spin-off has been intense, with Captain Glenn Shephard’s recent firing of deckhand Tom Pearson and the loss of second steward Gabriela Barragan.
Throughout season 3, the interior and exterior crew have faced turbulence. What started out as a promising charter season, led by returning Captain Glenn, Chief Steward Daisy Kelliher, First Mate Gary King, and Chief Engineer Colin MacRae, the new crew of the Parsifal III struggled with their tasks. This was especially true for deckhand Tom. After several mistakes, Tom was fired by Captain Glenn after allowing the anchor to drag while on anchor duty and placing everyone on board in danger.

The interior crew has also struggled this season. Originally a promising, competent team, it quickly dissolved into conflict after Daisy picked Gabriela for second stew over Ashley Marti. While the two had similar professional experiences, Daisy believed that Gabriela, who was ten years older than Ashley, had more life experience and would do better in the role than Ashley. This created an impossible dynamic between Gabriela and Ashley. While Ashley felt the second stew ordered her around too much, Gabriela often complained that Ashley disregarded her task lists to get at her. Communication broke down between the two, causing Gabriela to doubt her role as a second stew. Eventually, the stress became too much, and Gabriela decided to leave for her mental health.
