Chef Ryan McKeown has been problematic on Below Deck Down Under, and fans are glad he finally got fired. Chefs are one of the most important crew members on a luxury charter yacht. The guests expect nothing but the best experience, and the chef’s job is to cater to their tastes. However, charter after charter, the new Below Deck star Chef Ryan failed to live up to the guests' and Captain Jason Chambers’ standards.
Ryan’s attitude was also an issue with the Thalassa crew. When Chief Stew Aesha Scott tried to work with him on the timing of food service, Ryan pushed back and just plated the food when he thought the guests should eat. Captain Jason also noticed a lack of willingness from Ryan to give the guests the best service. During a charter from Captain Jason's former colleague, Ryan served sub-par food that the guests weren’t happy with. When Captain Jason tried to talk to Ryan about his performance, the chef got defensive and raised his voice.

Below Deck Down Under viewers were outraged at Ryan’s disrespectful attitude towards Captain Jason and his lack of culinary skills. After the awful English high tea prepared by Ryan, the guests left their charter feeling deflated about the spread. Captain Jason made the decision to let Chef Ryan go, and Below Deck Down Under fans were elated. Twitter user Ken Sandler wrote, “Ryan was a dbag from the day he started til the moment he got fired. He made Chef Leon look like a decent guy.” Reality Talks tweeted,“The worst chef in the history of Below Deck goes to RYAN.”
