Spotify has announced the release date for their exclusive podcast Batman Unburied, which stars Black Panther star Winston Duke as Bruce Wayne. The original podcast project was created and executive produced by The Dark Knight writerDavid S. Goyer. DC previously announced the Spotify series as part of a multi-year, first-look licensing deal for podcasts based on popular DC characters.
According to THR, Batman Unburied will be released globally on May 3rd. As part of the release, there will also be eight adaptations of the original English series created specifically for Brazil, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, and Mexico. Joining Duke's Batman in the podcast series are notable actors such as Jason Isaacs as Alfred, Gina Rodriguez as Barbara Gordon, Lance Reddick as Thomas Wayne, John Rhys-Davies as Dr. Hunter, and Hasan Minhaj as the Riddler. Reportedly, upcoming Spotify projects based on DC characters are expected to focus on Wonder Woman, Lois Lane, Catwoman, and Batgirl.

In Batman Unburied, the story begins with Wayne working as a forensic pathologist in Gotham Hospital, where he is examining the victims of a serial killer known as the Harvester. Goyer has a long history of adapting Batman to various mediums over the last two decades. He previously collaborated with Christopher Nolan on all three of his massively successful Batman films, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and wrote the animated feature Batman: Gotham Knight. He is also the showrunner on Apple's sci-fi adaptation of Isaac Asimov's Foundation, and is currently writing the Netflix adaptation of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman.
