Eddie Redmayne says The Batman made Robert Pattinson unrecognizably buff. The Batman is the latest iteration of the DC character which took the world by storm at the beginning of March. Pattinson stars as the first live-action interpretation of the character to exist outside of the DCEU since Christian Bale took on the role in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy. The Batman, helmed by Cloverfield director Matt Reeves,tells the story of the Caped Crusader in his second year of crime-fighting, as he tracks down a mysterious new serial killer known as The Riddler. Since its release, The Batman has garnered both critical and audience acclaim and continues to rise at the box office.
While Pattinson's performance as Batman has been hailed by many since the film's release, some may remember that when his casting was first announced, many fans were skeptical about whether he was the right actor to take on the role. Batman is a typically buff and imposing presence who strikes fear into the heart of Gotham's criminals with his large stature as well as his fighting abilities. Up until his role in The Batman, Pattinson was seen more as a lean and somewhat gangly actor, known mostly for his role as the vampire heartthrob Edward in the Twilight films. However, once The Batman was released, fans saw a huge change in the actor, and many now agree that he inhabited the role perfectly.
