Any version of Batman in DC Comics would be remiss without a sidekick. Whether they go by Robin or Batgirl, Batman's young allies have been infusing his stories with heart and humor for decades. They balance out his darkness and remind Batman that, even in Gotham, there is always hope. The next Batman, Jace Fox, is also receiving a sidekick, which has been revealed by exciting new cover art for I Am Batman #8.
Spring-boarding off of DC's Future State event, the I Am Batman series, written by John Ridley, features Jace Fox as Prime Earth's new Batman. The series follows the Next Batman's exploration of what it means to be the Dark Knight. In contrast to Bruce Wayne, the Next Batman frequently steps out of the shadows to make himself seen, in an effort to become a beacon of hope. While he makes many mistakes along the way, Jace is determined to make a difference. However, the people of New York are less certain, wary of accepting a masked vigilante in their city.

In a new variant cover for I Am Batman #8, with art by Olivier Coipel and Alex Sinclair, Jace is seen walking alongside a young girl in a red and yellow hoodies (colors reminiscent of a certain Boy Wonder). In the background, larger figures of Batman and his new sidekick loom over the pair. This young, female sidekick wears a costume unlike previous Robins or Batgirls, with a half-mask that covers her face with slitted eye holes and her hair tied back in a bun. She looks to be around ten to thirteen years old, similar in age to Batman's previous crimefighting partners.
