New cover art has been revealed for the latest Dragon Ball Super Gallery Project starring Son Goku in the style of the mangaka for Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan. Hiroshi Shiibashi is the next artist included in the forty-two cover project celebrating Dragon Ball's upcoming fortieth anniversary. There are still plenty more to come between now and 2024.
The Dragon Ball Super Gallery Project has included redesigned covers from eight previous mangaka. These have included Osamu Akimoto (Kochikame), Tatsuya Endo (Spy X Family), Tatsuki Fujimoto (Chainsaw Man),Koyoharu Gotouge (Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer), Shinohara Kenta (Witch Watch), Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto), Tite Kubo(BLEACH), andRyuhei Tamura (Beelzebub). The cover art has ranged from style shifts of classic characters to character substitutions from other manga series. The latest mangaka to redesign a cover, Hiroshi Shiibashi, is best known for Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan (also known as Nurarihyon no Mago). This manga was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump and Jump Next! from 2008 to 2012. It spanned twenty-five volumes and was adapted into an anime. It tells the story of titular character Rikuo Nura, who is part human and part yōkai (supernatural monster), living with his yōkai family and helping humans so he can escape becoming a full yōkai. Now, Shiibashi is lending his unique style to the world of Dragon Ball.
