Barbara Gordon's costume is seen in action for the first time in a brand new Batgirl set video. After her great performance in Jon M. Chu's In The Heights, Leslie Grace is bringing her acting chops to the DCEU as Batgirl. The film, written by Christina Hodson and directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, is set to debut on HBO Max this year, but without a specific release date yet. Nonetheless, production is in full swing after it started in Glasgow late last year, offering fans some information about what to expect from the project.
Batgirl will function as the origin story for DCEU's Barbara Gordon. Grace's version marks the first time the character will appear on screen again since 1997's Batman & Robin, which featured Alicia Silverstone's take on the character. In the comics, the character is a young officer in the Gotham City Police Department — something that the film will be adapting for Warner Bros.' franchise. J.K. Simmons is set to reprise his role as GCPD Commissioner Jim Gordon and Barbara's father. Meanwhile, after marking his return as Batman in Andy Muschietti's The Flash, Michael Keaton will follow it up by an appearance in Batgirl.
