«Across the board» performance optimizations, a way to dismiss co-op companions, and more Karlach goodness has arrived in the latest patch for Larian's RPG.

Just a few weeks after the game's first major patch, Baldur's Gate 3 patch 2 is now live, and adds all new Karlach scenes alongside a whole host of performance updates and bug fixes.
Everyone's favorite Tiefling barbarian gets more time to shine in the new update. Developer Larian Studios has added not only a new epilogue scene for Karlach, but additional scenes in Acts 1 and 2 as well. Larian in the patch notes states that it's working on additional endgame scenes featuring other characters.

On the performance side of the equation, the file size of game saves have been reduced (save scummers rejoice!) and performance optimizations have been made «across the board.» That includes improved CPU load, better minimap performance, better performance when using a controller, and fixes for multiple memory leak issues. There's a lot of improvements for controller players in general, something that will be perfect for when Baldur's Gate 3 arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S (albeit without co-op on Xbox Series S).
For those who have been enjoying co-op but want a way to return to solo adventuring, patch 2 has you covered. Larian has added Withers' Wardrobe of Wayward Friends, which can be used to dismiss co-op party members and bring back the game's NPC companions.
