Things have finally settled down a bit for Destiny 2, only for Bungie to reveal a hard-hitting truth as part of the game’s latest patch notes. As those who are in tune with Destiny‘s most prominent secret-hunting community, r/raidsecrets, will know, Guardians have been chasing after a mysterious third secret chest in the re-issued Crota’s End raid. As per the patch notes for Destiny 2 update 7.2.0.5, though, there never was a third secret chest to begin with.
The patch notes themselves are mainly bog-standard: the sort of stuff you’d expect from a fairly minor Destiny 2 update. From a slight tweak to the loot pool of Crota’s End to some PvP and PvE spawn changes, these are all good changes, albeit barely worth bringing up, considering just how much has been going on with Destiny 2 as of late. The fact of the matter is, though, that there haven’t been many secrets for the r/raidsecrets community to go after, either, and the third secret Crota’s End chest was the carrot on the proverbial stick for many players.
It goes without saying that r/raidsecrets isn’t giving up. After years of chasing after Destiny 2‘s never-resolved secrets, like the 15th wish of the Forsaken-era The Last Wish raid, the most dedicated Guardians understand that it’s only a matter of time before Bungie itself buckles before them. “That’s what they want y’all to think,” said Foreign_Sugar4038 about the lack of a third secret chest. “We’ve never been closer. I’m not listening to patch notes, I only listen to ahamkara whispers. They’re telling me the chest and wish are real.”
