The announcement that Larian Studios was finally finished developing its massive RPG shocked many, but it also made room for fans to take a stab at making the game their own. Many inventive mods are already available for the game, but dedicated users are now releasing add-ons that go above and beyond mere balance tweaks.
Sharing their creation to Nexus Mods, alongside a trailer on YouTube, creator SquallyDaBeanz posted the first chapter of their expansive «Forsaken» mod that uses the mechanics of to tell an original story set within the universe. The current build of the mod, which is described as a "", only includes the «Deathknell» region, a recreation of the Tirisfal Glades starting zone in . As for when the rest of «Forsaken» will arrive, SquallyDaBeanz has yet to lock in a release timeline but players can expect more content in the coming months.
For a free mod «Forsaken» already features a healthy amount of content for players to enjoy. The first chapter boasts a new storyline told over five original quests that take place in a specially-designed town. The hamlet features a range of new NPCs, each with unique dialogue, as well as a place for the party to set up camp. There's even a dungeon that includes plenty of combat encounters for those looking for some more action.
SquallyDaBeanz's vision for «Forsaken» is undoubtedly grand as the creator has already listed plenty of exciting features that they want to add to the mod. These include everything from additional merchants and non-essential NPCs, to Skill Checks, Inspiration Points, and even secrets dotted about the landscape. It's an ambitious plan but one should bear in mind that all of this will likely take a long time to come to fruition.
