Baldur's Gate 3 maker Larian opens up Polish studio
pcgamesinsider.bizThe developer of Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios, has set up a brand new developer in the capital of Poland.
This new Warsaw-based studio joins outfits in Quebec, Dublin, Guildford, Barcelona, Ghent, and Kuala Lumpur. The venture is being headed up by Ula Jach (pictured), who previously spent over nine-and-a-half years working at CD Projekt's GOG arm. She spent two years as managing director and a board member before transitioning to an advisory capacity in January and leaving altogether in April.
“The decision to open a permanent studio in Warsaw shows how serious we are about supporting creativity, collaboration and innovation at the heart of Poland's vibrant gaming scene, Jach said.
“We are excited to collaborate with the extensive talent and experience in the region, especially given Poland's strong reputation as a hub for RPGs and gaming enthusiasts.”
Larian CEO Swen Vincke added: “Visiting GIC last year confirmed what I had been thinking for some time - there is a lot of talent here and a lot of developers who think like us. Moreover, many of them want to work on RPGs, so it's a perfect match. Our plan for the Polish studio is very simple. Build a team that will be able to work on our two - very ambitious - new RPG games and enjoy the fruits of their work. We are a very grassroots company, so I'm looking forward to what new things they bring to us. I think this will work really well.”
