Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout will reach its fifth anniversary this week, after launching on PS4 back on 26th September, 2019. To mark the occasion, Koei Tecmo has announced the unprecedented decision to update the PS4 title and its two PS5 and PS4 sequels. Here’s everything it has planned for the trio of titles:
This is obviously very impressive support for the series so late in its lifecycle, especially with developer Gust’s focus now an upcoming title Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land, which is scheduled to release on 21st March, 2025. We suspect there’ll be some discounts on the Atelier Ryza trilogy in the near future, too, so keep your eyes peeled for those.

Thrilled that this fantastic sub series, arguably the best one, is getting QoL.
I booted up Ryza 2 after this update, and the game is still worst performing game I've ever played on PS5. The frame rate is unlocked and even VRR can't save it. If there were any actual performance optimizations done to it, I sure can't tell the difference. If they actually cared, they would add resolution options or a 30fps cap to help stabilize the performance. As it is, it's distractingly bad, even for an RPG.
Well that’s awesome. I loved the first Ryza and really enjoyed the second, but was a bit too Ateliered out at the time to finish the third. This is as good a reason as any to pick up my basket and staff again.
Cool.
Happy fifth anniversary to Atelier's subseries Ryza!
