Another State of Play has come to an end, and it's easy to argue that Sony needed to win back some good faith with this latest showing. Following on from the eye-watering PS5 Pro price reveal, the Japanese giant has to start justifying the expense of its mid-gen upgrade — but did this September 2024 broadcast do the trick?
To quickly recap, we got a peek at Astro Bot's DLC, Palworld's inevitable PlayStation version, the surprise Lunar Remastered Collection, release dates for Fantasian Neo Dimension, Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Monster Hunter Wilds, and LEGO Horizon Adventures, plus a bunch Dragon Age: The Veilguard gameplay.
Oh, and the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster is real… and so is Ghost of Yotei!
So, what did you make of this State of Play? Has it been yet another stumble from Sony, or does it have you excited for the relatively near future of PlayStation? Vote in our poll, and then share your honest opinion in the comments section below.
Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he's played 'em all. A little too much, some might say.
I wasn't expecting that tbh. Very good show
PHENOMENAL FOR GHOST OF YOTEI ALONE
SONY ARE BACK
Like a solid 5. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
Ghost of Yotei, pleasantly surprised, very happy.
I want to rate it very poor because it was, but then they had to come in with that banger at the end and totally redeem themselves. Sort of.
Ghost of Yotei saved it from being very poor, ended up being okay just for that reveal imo.
I expected worse and as usual the third parties carried the presentation. Ghost sequel is a nice surprise though. Cought me off guard.
Slightly above mid.
Very good.
Lots of interesting stuff.
Some good ps1
