Undead Labs has released the 38th and final update for State of Decay 2, as they look to put the full team’s efforts into the sequel State of Decay 3.
State of Decay 2 Update 38 puts a bow on things with a focus on fixing some long-standing issues, making some quality of life improvements, making gated and seasonal content more freely available, and even adding a batch of new cosmetics as a parting thank you.
Originally releasing in 2018, State of Decay 2 has now had a solid six years of support from Undead Labs. It launched on Xbox One and PC in a pretty rough state – echoing the first game – but still with plenty of appeal and charm. With the Juggernaut Edition and Xbox Series X|S enhancements, and the steady stream of updates, the game is now in a very good place, looking at the Steam reviews.
The sequel was announced back in 2020 during the Xbox Series X|S summer showcase, but it took four long years before we would see the game reappear, a re-reveal coming at this year’s summer showcase. The third game looks to lean even further into the community side of the game, jumping ahead in time some more and featuring a larger, truly shared world.
A lot to look forward to, but for now, here’s everything added in State of Decay 2 Update 38:
