A new trailer shown during the PlayStation Showcase has revealed Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be out on October 12th. Check out the new trailer!
The game takes us back to the ninth century CE and Baghdad at a point when this was a real heartland for science, art, innovation and commerce. You’ll play as Basim, a street thief with terrifying visions who’s drawn into the Assassin’s order – The Hidden Ones – and mentored by Roshan (played by the wonderful, distinctively voiced Shohreh Aghdashloo) as he discovers and learns his craft.
It’s a narrative driven adventure and one that feed into the open world stealth action adventure that the series was originally built upon. Assassin’s Creed Mirage was apparently planned as an expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, following the character Basim that featured as an NPC in that game, but it eventually grew into a standalone game.
While the series has witnessed a resurgence in recent years, it has undeniably shifted further and further away from its roots.
“Mirage’s creation has been the convergence of several inputs,” explained creative director, Stéphane Boudon, in an interview with GamesRadar.
Of course, the first one comes from our community: Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla they are all great games with the promise to live an epic journey in a strong fantasy. Their scopes have been calibrated to fulfil those ambitions as they all embrace the RPG mechanics. But amongst our fans, we started hearing the desire for a character driven story, focused on the core pillars of the first ACs in a more intimate scale. It resonates with us as well as developers and this was the starting point of the project.
