New poster art for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom gives fans a glimpse of Jason Momoa with blonde hair and a new costume in the upcoming DC blockbuster. Momoa, who first made his acting debut on Baywatch: Hawaii, made his first cameo appearance as Arthur Curry, a.k.a. Aquaman in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before moving on to appearing in a much greater capacity in 2017’s Justice League. In a significant departure from Aquaman’s appearance in the original comics, director Zack Snyder developed Momoa’s distinctive superhero look to include Polynesian-like tattoos which mimicked the character’s usual scale-like attire.
However, when The Conjuring director James Wan was brought on board to helm Momoa’s solo film as the King of Atlantis, he was able to introduce a more traditional look for the character who is often depicted in an orange and green suit. In the final act of 2018’s Aquaman, when Arthur claimed the trident of Atlan, the former king of Atlantis, he also took possession of the former monarch’s armor as well. While this armor muted the character’s traditionally flamboyant colors somewhat, it was still a much more comic-accurate version of Aquaman’s attire than that which appeared in Snyder’s films.

Wearing the new blue costume first teased in footage revealed at last year’s DC Fandome, most strikingly, Momoa’s hair and beard also now appears to be blonde. Check out the new poster below:
