Zack Snyder revealed new cast members brought onto his upcoming Netflix film Rebel Moon. The film was initially pitched as a part of the Star Wars franchise, but when that did not go anywhere, it was re-envisioned as a sci-fi tv series. When that didn't work out, the concept was re-envisioned again, this time as a Netflix original movie with Zack Snyder as director and co-writer and Sofia Boutella cast in the leading role.
Rebel Moon revolves around a small colony on the edge of a galaxy on the verge of being overtaken by a tyrant named Belisarius and his armies. In hopes of saving their galaxy, the people of this colony send out young women to other planets to find those who will assist them. Snyder co-wrote the story of Rebel Moon, alongside Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad. Sofia Boutella was the first to join the cast as the young warrior sent out by the small colony to enlist the help of others. Boutella has worked on a large number of action-based adventure films, such as Kingman: The Secret Service, Star Trek Beyond, and Atomic Blonde, to name a few.
