Zack Snyder's upcoming sci-fi movie Rebel Moon could have a possible Street Fighter influence, specifically relating to its arch-villain. Set to release on Netflix, Rebel Moon is scheduled to get rolling this spring, with Snyder filming part one and part two of the new universe back-to-back. The film also brings together a big ensemble cast, including Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, and Ray Fisher, who broke out as Cyborg in Zack Snyder's Justice League.
Snyder originally conceived Rebel Moon as a conceptual pitch for a Star Wars movie, later reworking it into an original sci-fi adventure. The film will focus on a colony in a distant galaxy facing an impending invasion by intergalactic warlord Regent Balisarius. This leads a young woman to be recruited to summon warriors from across the galaxy to defend against the attack. Snyder recently released concept art for Rebel Moon, which might reveal more inspirations for Rebel Moon than Star Wars.

One sketch from Snyder's concept art shows a possible look at Balisarius, supported by a platoon of his soldiers as a village of people bow down to him. The military figure seen in the concept art bears a rather striking resemblance to the big bad of the Street Fighter video games, M. Bison. Indeed, not only are they similar in appearance, but Balisarius and M. Bison share similar villainous traits as generals intent on conquering their enemies.
