Apple has finally announced the new M3 MacBook Air with an upgraded processor. The company was initially expected to unveil the new machines by the end of this month at its Spring event. However, the company saw fit to announce the upgrade via press release. The latest release features a plethora of upgrades over the previous version in terms of performance and connectivity.
In terms of looks, the new M3 MacBook Air models are identical to the previous version. Note that Apple has upgraded both models of the MacBook Air as it has seen fit to discontinue the 15-inch model from last year's lineup. As mentioned, the latest machines still feature an aluminum unibody design with 13.6-inch and 15.3-inch screen sizes. Apart from the design, Apple made various internal improvements, such as upgraded internals and connectivity.
The new MacBook Air is powered by Apple's M3 chip and, according to Apple, it is 60 percent faster than the company's M1 chip. Compared to the MacBook Air powered by the Intel chip, the M3 MacBook Air is 13 times more powerful. The M3 chip will deliver faster computational and graphical performance compared to the M2 chip as well. However, the device also makes sure that it is future-proof with an upgraded Neural Engine, which will allow the machine to handle AI tasks more efficiently.
Other than this, the M3 MacBook Air also houses a new AV1 decode engine, which will bolster high-quality video from streaming services more efficiently.
