The American Idol season 20 runner-up HunterGirl is a fan favorite who recently shared a new song that she wrote about her hometown of Winchester, Tennessee. HunterGirl first stole America's heart at her American Idol audition when she earned a platinum ticket from judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan after her incredible rendition of «Riot» by Rascal Flatts. During the show, she sang country hits such as «Baby Girl» by Sugarland (Top 14), «9 To 5» by Dolly Parton (Top 11), «Like My Mother Does» by Lauren Alaina (Top 7), «Undo It» by Carrie Underwood (Top 5) and «Girl Crush» by Little Big Town (Top 5), but it was her original music that really captured everyone's attention.
HunterGirl is an outstanding songwriter, who released the single «We're Not in Kansas Anymore» in 2018. For Top 20 week on American Idol, she performed her original song «Heartbreak Down,» which is about moving on after a heartbreak. After the episode aired, the song skyrocketed up the music charts, along with her EP, One Day. During the competition, HunterGirl recorded her single, «Red Bird,» a song about believing that when a cardinal appears, it is really a family member from heaven coming down to visit. When she was younger, her mom had also told her that if she made a wish on a red bird, when it flew, her wish would come true. «Red Bird» has since reached number one on the music charts. Although HunterGirl has a successful career ahead of her, her main focus for writing music is to help people, and she is a music therapist who works with veterans to turn their stories into songs.
