Squishmallows have now made their way into Animal Crossing: New Horizons as villagers thanks to a modder. While the latest entry in the Animal Crossing series is still relatively popular two years on from its release, the game hasn't seen a significant update since last year's Happy Home Paradise DLC. While the game still gets smaller updates and annual events, there’s definitely a lot of potential ACNH DLC that should have happened, especially considering that the game is still relatively young and only released a single major DLC pack in that time.
Because of the lack of any new major content updates, many remaining Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have turned to mods to further expand and enrich their gaming experience. While there is some risk to adding and using mods in the game, especially if the player applies them directly to their Nintendo Switch console instead of an emulator, there are those who are willing to take that chance to try out a few mods. Even though there are quite a sizable number of available mods out there, the best Animal Crossing: New Horizons mods are arguably the ones that either improve the game’s quality of life or add more characters.
