BioWare Hires Guardians Of The Galaxy Writer, Mary DeMarle
Deus Ex and Guardians of the Galaxy writer Mary DeMarle is leaving Eidos Montreal’ after more than ten years. DeMarle is moving to BioWare to work on an undisclosed project, which is likely to be Mass Effect 5 given that it is still in the early stages of development.
This comes shortly after Embracer Group's acquisition of Eidos Montreal, although it's not known if these two events are related. DeMarle's work recently won Best Narative at The Game Awards, making this a good get for BioWare.

As DeMarle reveals on her LinkedIn (thanks, VGC), she's taking the role of Senior Narrative Director at EA, working at BioWare. This is after a long stint at Eidos, and before that, several years at Ubisoft in the early 2000s.
Deus Ex fans in particular are sad to see her go, as it is assumed (but not confirmed) that Eidos is working on a new instalment. This would be the first game in the series without her work in over a decade, which seems to have some fans worried about the potential new game.
Moving to a studio best known for its single-player offerings is not a surprising career move for DeMarle. Her most recent project, Guardians of the Galaxy, was well received by both fans and critics alike. However, Square Enix was disappointed with its sales, and it's suspected that this was one of the driving forces behind the company selling the developer to Embracer Group, moving away from single-player projects.
Over at BioWare, it's likely that DeMarle will be working on the next Mass Effect, given her experience with the sci-fi genre. However, she may also be helping the Dragon Age: Dreadwolf team, as this will be the studio's top priority right now.
